Because there was half a day left in the end of the contest the Advanced, Intermediate and Sportsmen flew a 100K contest (with some elements of the next higher category) against each other, which was judged by the Unlimited pilots. It was lot of fun for the pilots flying and an experience for the Unlimited to sit “at the other side of the fence”. Remarkable in this contest was the midfield placing of the sportsman pilot Jutta Karsten, flying her Cessna 152 aerobat.
The Sportsman category was won by Falko Wünschkowski, flying a Zlin 526 followed by Norman Thinius in Super Decathlon and Patrick Hüller in Extra 200.
In the Intermediate category Rene John in Extra 330SC had the edge over Thomas Sachse, Cap 231, after an exciting contest. Third in this category was Günter Fleischmann. Here we could welcome our for this year unfortunately only foreign guest pilot, Hans-Peter Etter from Switzerland in his Decathlon. He took a 7 hours trip to Stendal and back home again calmly, to compete once again at a German championship.
In the Advanced category Ralf Aue was finished first place in XA 42. After not being in the lead in the Known and Free, his experience made the difference in the 2 unknown programs. Ralf dominated this programme and so passed Florian Berger in Extra 330SC, and Rainer Bernd in Extra 300SHP who made it 2. and 3.
Last year’s Unlimited champion Martin Albrecht made this category interesting by flying a zero in the first unknown. This gave the lead overall to Hein Sauels until the 2. Unkown was flown. But here Martin made it again and is German Champion 2013, followed by Hein Sauels , both in Extra 330SC and Ulrich Pade (XA41) as No. 2 and 3.
Heike and Hein Sauels will be member of the national team heading for the WAC, flying in Extra 330SR of Dagmar Kress, who will reinforce Team Germany!
In the final-4 minute-freestyle Claudius Spiegel, last year champion in Advanced and Unlimited rookie, displayed a great show and took the title followed by Martin Albrecht and Hein Sauels.
In the organization, the proven team, consisting of Jürgen Leukefeld and Silvia Thöle were responsible for a trouble-free and very well organized contest and chief judge Michael Garbers delivered an excellent job at the judge line.
At the closing ceremony everybody agreed that this was a successful, fine event and the offer of the host of Stendal to repeat the Nationals at this site after 2000, 2004 and 2013 is a good opportunity for the future.
