The 16th FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championship and the 4th FAI World Advanced Glider Championship were held July 18th - 27th, 2013 at the Oripää Aerodrome in Oripää, Finland.

With a total of 59 pilots - 15 in the Unlimited category and 40 in the Advanced category - the pilots competed across 3 flights: the Q, Free, 1st Unknown programs.

 In the Unlimited category, Russian Vladimir Ilinskiy made a splash by dominating in the Q flight and in the Unknown program, making him the World Champion and winner of the gold medal. His teammate, Georgy Kaminskiy, who was 4th in the last world championship, beat Ilinskiy in the Free program, earning the silver medal ahead of 2012 World Champion, Polish Maciej Pospieszynski, who took the bronze.In terms of the team results in the Unlimited category, the Czech Republic took the gold medal, followed by the German team who took the silver, and Poland, who took the bronze. 

In the Advanced category, the young Swede Johan Gustafsson was proclaimed World Champion for the second time. The first time was in 2010. This time, he won the Q program and prevailed in the Unknown program, giving him the necessary margin to obtain the gold medal with an overall score of 74.224%. Polish Slawomir Talowski took the silver with 72.696% and Daniel Ahlin, the bronze, with 71.173%.

With respect to teams, Poland had 3 of its members in the lead, earning it the gold medal. The Czech Republic took the silver, and Italy, the bronze.
